Starlight in Cíes
Discover the stars and the magic hidden in the island of the gods with our “Destination Starlight” experience. A night outing aboard a sailing boat accompanied by an astronomical guide to get to know in detail the blanket of stars that illuminate the Atlantic Islands National Maritime-Terrestrial Park of Galicia every night. Unforgettable!
We want to bring you closer to the sky and the stars of the Cíes Islands with a specific route to give value to this unique and quality enclave for stargazing, protected from light pollution. Our National Park is recognised worldwide with the “Startlight Destination” seal thanks to the quality of its conditions for stargazing.
We will sail to Cíes along the beautiful Vigo estuary to the Parque Nacional Marítimo-Terrestre das Illas Atlánticas de Galicia where we will be able to watch the sunset sailing in the waters of the Park, a unique spectacle! When the night closes it will be time to disembark on the beach of San Martiño (south island) and on its fascinating white sand we will contemplate the starry sky that this place offers us. An idyllic enclave for stargazing, as this island is not inhabited and there is no light or noise pollution of any kind. Depending on the sea conditions, we will also cross to the island of Rhodes, where the guide will give us a brief explanation of the stellar vault and we will enjoy identifying constellations and discovering stars that would be impossible to see elsewhere.
