More information about Starlight activities:

Night heritage, the great unknown: what do we have up there? How can we begin to observe the sky and understand how it works? Enjoy the sky, get to know it and learn to appreciate it with our Starlight activities!

We will lie under a starry sky, where neither the lights of street lamps or cars, nor the noises will spoil such a unique moment of connection with the nature of the night.

An astronomer guide will explain to you the wonders visible with our eyes: to orientate yourself thanks to the stars, to locate the brightest stars, to understand why we observe them in different colours, the constellations and their legends, stories and the magic written in the sky.

We will invoke the Goddess Hera, creator of the drawings and stories written in the sky, to know them first hand and to know how they explained the times of flooding of the rivers, the beginning of the harvests or the discussions of other gods? Laughter and debate will be served: science? legends?….

You will have a real but entertaining explanation, thanks to the science of these different stories. An unforgettable evening awaits you!

Options:

Depending on the chosen location, the activity can be organised with different options:

-Initiation to observation (a natural area without light pollution is necessary) An astronomer guide will reveal the secrets of the night to you.

-Dramatised (our best bet, a way to gain your attention and enjoy the legends). The goddess Hera will explain the history of the drawings she has made in the sky, where gods and heroes mark times of harvest, rain and others….. Meanwhile, our astronomer will use science to explain her version… Which one will you choose?

-Night: Sounds and stars. Includes a nature walk to learn about the sounds of nocturnal wildlife and their adaptations to the dark. We will make an observation of the sky (we need a natural space nearby and safe to move around).
